Old Black Dye Recipe
I had just bought a whole new set for my necromancer and was thinking about giving it a nice, dark color. Then Nightfall came out, and I was stuck, like many other players, with that pitch black thing...
So I thought, what if we could use the new dye system to our need, and make our own old-styled black dye? After a couple days of trying to at least get something close to the old black dye, I managed to make something quite accurate.
Please note that this dye recipe has not been tested on every single armors, so I am not sure if it works with every characters. All I know is, I couldn't get it right on most Monk, Warrior and Ranger armors. Further testing would be required as it seems to only work on Necromancer sets (since they are naturally darker) and the Jester's cap.
Here's the recipe in question:
Another mix that works nicely on Necromancer armors is Blue and Yellow. It is similar to the recipe shown above but it actually has a more blueish shade to it.
(Sorry for the grammar mistakes, if there's any.)
Feedback and more images would be nice
Have fun!

I've known about this for quite a while, but I first use 1xGreen + 1xPurple, then experiment from there, since it sometimes acts differently on certain armour.
It's great to know if you love mixed dye jobs.

Something like this works on mesmer 1.5k sunspear too. It might not be those exact same primary colors, but if someone messes with cheap dyes they can find it easily. It might have been red/orange/purple/blue, I forget. It was a very dark brown almost black... actually looked nicer than black to me but I ended up changing it to white ^^

Nice find.
I found with my exotic Ranger armor it was hard to get the same dye job on the gloves and boots, that I was able to get on the chest and waist.
Its so hard to find a good dye job now days! heheh

The closest color I could find to old black on my Mesmer fow was 3 blacks and a silver per peice - Ouch. 2 blacks+silver was a little too light and 1 black on it's own too dark.

I tried this on Ancient Warrior armor, and it appeared as more of a purplish wash. Prolly because of it being on metal. Should work great on cloth though

This works differently on armor. You just have to play around.

I found that if you use Red+Green+Blue on Sin armor, it matches the dark greyish color of the leather parts of the armor. Kinda like the old black in a sense.
